Perfect for Halloween or a Harry Potter themed party, these DIY potion bottles are cost effective and simple to put together. To make these all you’ll need is to save up some bottles, do a little spray painting and then apply labels. Easy peasy. Unlike the liquid filled variety, these DIY potion bottles can be easily stored for future use.
When decorating with the finished bottles, mix and match different shapes and sizes together for a more spooky and eclectic look. I like to put mine on the fireplace mantle and around my entertainment center.
Let’s Get Crafty
Step 1
Gather up and assortment of bottles of various shapes and sizes. Thoroughly clean off all adhesive and labels.
I used liquor bottles that I had saved up and goo-gone to remove labels. To ensure they were free of any oily residue I ran them in the dishwasher.
Step 2
Prepare spray paint surface and spread out bottles. Lightly spray with Chalkboard Spray Paint.
Give them 3-4 coats with 15 minutes between each coat.
Step 3
Let he bottles completely dry for at least one hour, then adhere labels to the sides. Be sure to size up your desired label to the bottle before you stick it to make sure it looks right. Finish the bottles by adding a cork to the top and ta-da!

Looking for labels? Get ones that have a variety of shapes and sizes to get a more unique look. I found these ones on Amazon that I liked.
Didn’t save the corks? It’s easy to buy a variety pack on Amazon or at a craft store. Alternatively you can used one from a wine bottle, cut to size with a knife.
Protect your surfaces from spray paint – I like to use a flattened cardboard box because they won’t blow in the breeze and mess up your paint job.
Make sure to size up your label before removing the back to stick it. You’ll only get 1 shot at this so make sure it’s how you want it to look!
