Ever wish you had more hands at a party? When you’ve got a drink in one hand and are trying to socialize, balancing a plate and a dip situation isn’t ideal. Enter phyllo shells: crisp, bite-sized, and designed specifically for easy, one-handed snacking. These little cups are one of my favorite hosting shortcuts. They instantly make dips feel more intentional and keep guests from hovering awkwardly over a communal bowl. You can absolutely buy them premade (no judgment), but if you’re already in the kitchen, they’re surprisingly easy to make from scratch.

Feeling lazy? You can buy these premade Phyllo Shells here.
Making Phyllo Shells

Thaw your phyllo sheets if required. While you are working make sure they are left covered so they don’t dry out.
Set a sheet of phyllo on you cutting board and lightly brush the top with melted butter using a pastry brush.
Place another sheet on top and repeat the butter process until there are 5-6 layers with butter on the top layer.
Have a mini muffin pan prepared! You do not need to grease the pan because of the butter in the Phyllo layers. A standard muffin pan is too large.
Cut the phyllo sheets into 4 inch squares.
Place each square into the cups of a mini muffin pan gently pressing the bottoms and walls to form the phyllo cup.

When the pans are full, bake until lightly browned, roughly 10 minutes. Carefully watch as phyllo burns easily.
Remove the pan from the oven and let it cool. When cooled, remove the phyllo shells and set aside.
Cups can be made in advance and stored in an air tight container.
Phyllo Cup Fillings
My favorite thing to put in these is Spinach Artichoke Dip, however there are tons of options here. Basically these are great for any dip but here are a few of my other favorites:
- Jalapeno Popper Dip
- Swiss and Onion Dip
